Building Masses vs. Dead Loads

The seismic dead loads and overturning resistance loads must be entered separately, even though the loads represent different configurations of the same building mass. This is because the program does not yet handle the vertical distribution of loads, and there is no way of knowing how an area load on a floor, for example, needed to specify the distribution of seismic mass, is distributed to the supporting walls.

The program does not include the building masses when determining overturning holddown forces.
