Shear Capacity

The tables below provide the shear capacities for each material factored for ASD by 1/2.0 for wind design and 1/2.8 for seismic design, as per SDPWS 4.1.4, along with trhe unfactored capacities listed in SDPWS Table 4.3A.

Refer also to the Design Factors that apply to these capacities in various circumstances.

The sheathing capacities appear in the Shear Design table of the Design Results. For a perforated wall or segmented wall without openings, the sheathing capacity shown is factored with the Design Factors shown. For a segmented or FTAO wall with openings, the value shown for walls does not include the Aspect ratio factor, but the value for segments does, as the aspect ration factor can be different for different segments.

Fully factored sheathing capacity for the critical segment on a wall is also shown in Elevation view.
