Nail Withdrawal Capacity

The nail withdrawal resistance from CSA O86 12.9.4.2 is compared to the force on a nail derived from the component Component and Cladding (C&C) end zone and interior zone wind loads on the wall, using the panel interior (field) nail spacing to calculate the load per nail. Nail penetration is derived from subtracting the sheathing thickness, including any gypsum wallboard underlay, from the nail length.

The generated or user-input C&C loads are internally adjusted by the 1.4 load combination factor before being compared to the factored resistances.
