The provisions regarding beam lateral stability calculations in O86 6.5.3.2, 7.5.6.3 and 7.5.6.4 are somewhat convoluted and open to interpretation. The subtopics listed below give SIzer's implementation of these provisions.
In addition, under Member Design, Lateral Support, refer to Input of Lateral Support for the input of lateral support in beam and column modes, to Lateral Support at Points of Bearing for allowable lateral support points on the member, and Unsupported Length lu for the determination of the unsupported length used in the calculations.
