Row Tear-Out Capacity

For all parallel to grain bolted or shear plate connections, the program considers the row tear-out capacity of the connection, because the capacity of the fastener group may be limited by row tear-out around a row of fasteners caused by local stresses.

Modification of the placement of fasteners can be used to increase the row tear-out capacity. Increasing the spacing between fasteners in a row is one way to increase the capacity.
