This section specifies the slopes of side panels or hip ends. It is necessary to type in the value then press enter or click the mouse somewhere else for these values to take effect. These fields are disabled for gable and joining ends.
Opposites the Same
If this is checked, both side panels will be given the same slope when a new slope is entered. This is the usual case. If it is checked when a gable end is changed, and there are two hip ends, both ends will change. You cannot use this checkbox to actually change the slopes, it just indicates what will happen when you type in a new slope.
All the Same
If this is checked, then all side panels or hip ends will be given the new slope when it is entered. This overrides the selection of Opposites the Same. You cannot use this checkbox to actually change the slopes; it just indicates what will happen when you type in a new slope.
Intersecting Hip Ends
It is possible to change the angles such that the two hip ends would intersect in plan view. If this is done directly by changing the hip end slopes, then the program warns you and reverts to the old angle. If it is done indirectly by changing the side panel angles, the ridge direction, the ridge location or elevation, then the program quietly adjusts the hip slopes in 10 degree increments until hip slopes that do not intersect are achieved. You must therefore be on the lookout for these changed hip slopes if you make unusual changes in configuration.
