Extending Walls Upwards

Pressing Extend Walls Upwards will create walls on upper levels of all multi-level blocks. If one block is extended higher than an adjoining block (Figure 3), then there will be a discontinuity in the exterior walls. The program will keep track of the points at which the blocks coincide, and will create walls on the upper levels that ensure an enclosed structure on all levels.

The program allows you to extend your walls upwards in stages, that is, extend walls up through a more limited number of levels than to the top of the building. However, in order to maintain a closed envelope, you must always extend the walls through at least one level and cannot build a level from scratch.

Figure 3 - Extending Walls Upwards

Note that interior walls created on the first level are not extended to upper levels when extending walls upwards in multi-block structures with different numbers of levels, as such walls are not necessarily associated with a block.
