In Plan view, if a wall fails for the design case shown on the screen (combination of wind or seismic, rigid or flexible diaphragms, and force direction) the wall appears in a red colour. If the wall is also selected, it is a darker shade of red.
This occurs for failures due to shear wall shear design, nail withdrawal, and out-of-plane sheathing design. Walls that fail due to excessive story drift, have under-capacity hold-downs, or do not comply with other design code limitations such as materials allowed for seismic design categories, are not shown in red. It is necessary to refer to warnings under the Design Results tables for these types of failures.
If a wall or wall appears in red, proceed to the Design Results for more information. The Design Summary lists all the failing walls, and the Shear Results and Component and Cladding Results tables give the forces, capacity, and design ratios for these walls.
In Plan View, non shear-resisting elements (non-shear walls and segments with high aspect ratios) are shown hollow.
