Version 8

This set of topics describes the features that have been added to WoodWorks® Shearwalls for the Canadian version 8, released in November, 2011.

The most important new features added for this new release are

Deflection analysis for stiffness-based load distribution and storey drift check.

Hold-down connection database and hold-down design

Update to CSA 086-09 Design Standard

Update to the NBC 2010 Design Code

Iterative Load Distribution and Shearwall Design

In addition, a large number of smaller improvements and bug fixes have been made, categorised by the subtopics below.

The following fixes involve non-conservative and/or possibly large discrepancies in engineering calculations in certain circumstances; please check existing projects to see if they may have been affected:

Shear Strength of Unblocked Shearwall (Bug 2250)

Gypsum Wall Board for Wet Service Conditions (Bug 2251)

Bi-Directional Seismic Rigid Diaphragm Analysis (Bug 2282)

Shearlines with Zero Capacity and Non-zero Shear Force (Bug 2211)

Input of T Greater than Maximum (Bugs 2281, 2130)

In addition, please note the changes we have made to the location and access offiles in our installation

Program Data File Locations (Bug 2265)
