Shear Force Distribution

All horizontal load distribution, vertical force accumulation, and generation of secondary forces such as shear line, wall, and segment forces, drag strut forces, and hold-down forces, occurs automatically at three occasions in the operation of the program:

• When you enter the Loads action, in order to capture the effect of structural changes made in other actions.
• When you apply a new load, as this alters the overall configuration of loads and forces.
• Before a design run, to ensure the results are based on the most recent changes.

At any of these points, there may be a delay as the program performs the computations and processing necessary to distribute all the loads and forces through the structure.
