Force Components

The holddown force at one end of the wall and compression force at the other may consist of these components:

These components are combined by multiplying the dead load component by its load combination factor before subtracting it from the shear overturning component. For wind forces, the wind uplift component is then added to create the combined hold-down force.

Only the combined force is displayed in plan view. Either the combined force or the separate components can be displayed in elevation view. The Design Results show the components and the combined force.
