A detailed description of the changes is not yet available; however the following corrections are noteworthy:
There was mistake in the implementation in the new SDPWS provision Vertical Distribution of SFRS Strength (SDPWS 4.1.8). The calculation of the shear force on the weak story uses only the shear force due to the building mass on that level, when it should be using the the accumulated shear force from the building mass on that level and those above. For this reason, when a weak story was encountered, the program invariably determines that it passes the Exception that states that the SFRS is permitted , when it may not pass the Exception. this has been corrected.
Shearwalls 2023 added the calculation of offsets at the tension and compression end of a shear wall segment for a more accurate moment arm in hold-down and compression force calculations. However, the default behavior was to continue to use a single value input in the Hold-down Settings for all hold-downs in the structure, so many you may not have been aware of this improvement.
If you had version 13.0 with this capability disabled, and you wish to take advantage of it in the Hold-downs Settings, check the box Calculate for each wall segment, then when exiting the settings, make sure Save as default for new files is checked.
