SCL (structural composite lumber), refers to materials such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL), parallel strand lumber (PSL) and laminated strand lumber (LSL).
WoodWorks Sizer includes database files for Versa-Lam LVL and built-up Versa-Lam LVL for each member type. If you want to use SCL materials from another manufacturer, you can either copy and modify this database file or create a new one with WoodWorks Database Editor.
WoodWorks Sizer provides suggested sections for SCL based on typical sizes and calculates allowable design stress values according to provisions in NDS Chapter 8.
Although the design values are in the range of manufacturers' claimed values, proprietary differences can result in discrepancies. The SCL manufacturer or supplier should be contacted for actual sizes and design values, due to the proprietary nature of these products.
