Hip Roofs

In the absence of guidance from NBC, hip roofs are treated as side panels, and the angle of the hip end slope is used for the determination of pressure coefficients. Zone 1, 2, 3, and 4 roof coefficients are applied, the end zone width is at least 6m, and Case A and Case B wind directions are both considered, all as if the hip roof portion was a side panel. The geometry of hip construction side panels is modified to be different than that pictured in, and end zones on side panels are measured parallel to the sloping end.
