For Note 8, from Figure 4.1.7.6.-A, the distance beyond which leeward coefficients are applied to the windward surface perpendicular to the ridge, 2.5 x building height H, is assumed to be measured horizontally, although it is depicted as being along the slope in the Figure.
This rule applies only when B / H > 5, which is the ridge location at 2.5H, so if it was interpreted as the sloped distance, as you vary the building width B, a strip of the surface that required leeward coefficients would appear the moment the B passes 5H. The width of this strip would be ( B - cos(roof slope) ) / 2. Such a discontinuity does not make sense.
Furthermore, an identical requirement in the USA ASCE 7 Figure 28.3-1, Note 8 is phrased such that the distance is measured horizontally.
