Loads

Shearwalls allows Wind Shear Loads, Seismic Loads, Component and Cladding Wind Loads, Dead Loads, Wind Uplift Loads, Building Masses for seismic load generation to be applied to the building, Wind shear and seismic loads can also be generated automatically, and typically that is the way they are introduced into the program.

Each of these load types is automatically distributed to shear lines, shear walls, and shear wall segments. You can also enter shear line forces directly.

Load Factors

All generated and user-applied loads, which are shown as arrows around the building perimeter in Plan View or as vertical arrows at the top of walls in Elevation view, are unfactored loads. The load combination factors are applied later, when the loads are distributed to shear lines. Shear forces applied directly to a shear line are considered to be factored.
