Center of Loads and Center of Rigidity

The program shows the location of the center of loads and the center of rigidity of the structure, for both wind and seismic loading. These appear in Load Generation action when Rigid forces are chosen for display. Two small dots with the symbols CL and CR appear. You can turn on and off the display of these points using the Show menu.

They represent the centers in both the E-W and N-S direction. The distance between these points in each direction is the moment arm used for torsional analysis for rigid diaphragm distribution, minus any accidental eccentricity that is added. If you place your mouse over the point, its co-ordinates appear in the program status bar.

Shear Line Forces

The shear line forces shown in the Plan View drawing are for the worst-case of adding and subtracting accidental eccentricity on each shear line. The other cases are not shown.
