Importance Category
The Importance Categories are the described in NBC Table 4.1.2.1 and are based on the use and occupancy of your building. Note that this input is used for both wind and seismic load generation.
Importance Factor
This is a non-editable text field that shows the importance factor Iw that is used in the equations to generate wind pressures on the structure in NBC 4.1.7.3.(1) and (3). It is determined from the Importance Category, as per CSA O86 Table 5.2.3.2 and NBC Commentary Table A-2 for Ultimate Limit States.
