Shearwalls checks the strength of hold-down devices vs. the tension uplift force and the compressive resistance of the wall stud pack at the other and against the concentrated force at that end. Note that these are just after-the-fact design checks; Shearwalls does not incorporate the compression check into the design search for unknown parameters, nor does it allow for unknown hold-down devices.
