Shearwalls includes a database of hold-down connections for use in resisting overturning forces and for deflection analysis. You select a hold-down from the database at each wall end and opening end.
Hold-down connections are not specified at the base of vertical elements carrying hold-down forces down to a location that is not at a wall or opening end, as we assume the same hold-down model that resists this force in the upper level is used. .
You must specify hold-downs at each location, the program does not automatically select a hold-down based on the required capacity. The hold-down is used for all design cases (wind, seismic, rigid, flexible).
The program includes a database editor to be used to add new hold-down connection types and modify the properties of the new ones to meet changing manufacturers specifications.
