Axial Tension

If tension (uplift) forces exist on the column for any load combination, using O86 6.5.8 for sawn lumber, 7.5.11 for glulam, and 15.3.3.9 for SCL, SIzer determines resistance to axial tension loads in columns, wall studs, and wall panels with an equation of the form

Tr = f Ft AKZt

The resistance Tr is compared to the axial force on the member for each load combination experiencing uplift.
