Wind Load Provisions

Wind loads are generated according to the 2010 or 2015 edition of the National Building Code (NBC). You can select which of these to use in the Design Settings.

The Static procedure described in NBC 4.1.8.3 is used. Dynamic Analysis from 4.1.7.8 is beyond the scope of the program.

There are two methods in the NBC for determining the external pressures on the building faces. Shearwalls offers a choice between

• The "low-rise"method as described in the NBC 2015 4.1.7.6 and NBC 2010 Structural Commentaries I, Figure I-7
• The "all-heights" method as described in the NBC 2015 4.1.7.5 and NBC 2010 Structural Commentaries I, Figure I-15.

These are selected in the Design Settings.
