In the following, a "member" file refers to a Beam, Column or Concept mode file, what previously was referred to as a "project" file. A "project" file here refers to a workspace organizer file containing as many as one Concept files and any number of Beam and Column mode files.
Member or Concept Files
New File
Use the New File command to create a new Sizer member or concept file.
Whenever you select New File from the File menu and create a Concept Mode file, Sizer discards the current concept file. If you have modified the concept file since you last saved it, Sizer asks you whether to save or discard your modifications. If you create a Beam or Column file, Sizer creates the file and displays beam mode, but other open files remain open in windows that can be accessed by the Window menu.
If you make a new member file with a Project file open, the program will prompt you to add it to the project.
Open File
Use the Open File command to retrieve an existing Sizer member or concept file.
To open an existing member or concept file, select Open File from the File menu. When the Open dialog appears type a filename (or select one from the list box) and then click OK to open that file.
If you make a open a member file with a Project file open, the program will prompt you to add it to the project.
Save File
Use the Save File command to update an existing Sizer file. If the file is untitled, Sizer will prompt you to enter a new name. Sizer then only saves data for the currently active member file, that is, saving a file while in Concept mode will not save any data in the Beam or Column member files.
Save As
Use the Save As command to make a copy of the current Sizer member file under a new name.
Save All
This appears when no project file is open, but individual member files are. It allows you to save all open files at once. Sizer prompts you for a filename for any files that were previously unsaved.
Close File
This command allows you to close a member file without closing a project or affecting any other files. If you have modified the member file since you last saved it, Sizer asks you whether to save or discard your modifications.
Project Files
New Project
Use the New Project command to create a new Sizer project file, which is a workspace containing possibly one Concept file and one or more member files.
When you select New Project from the File menu and create a Project file, Sizer discards a project file that is currently open. If you have modified the project file since you last saved it, or any of its member files, Sizer asks you whether to save or discard your modifications to the project file, and the modifications to all the member files in the open project.
If concept or member files are open, but a project file is not, Sizer asks you whether you want to incorporate the open files into the newly created project. If not, Sizer closes the open files.
Upon opening a new project, the program asks you to enter the Project Description in the Create Project box, and then prompts you for a filename and location. The project file must be named and saved at this point, you cannot wait until you have made changes.
Open Project
Use the Open Project command to retrieve an existing Sizer project file.
To open an existing Project file, select Open Project from the File menu. When the Open dialog appears type a filename (or select one from the list box) and then click OK to open that file. Sizer opens the project files and its member files, up to a maximum number you specify in the Project settings.

If you have modified the project file since you last saved it, or any of its member files, Sizer asks you whether to save or discard your modifications to the project file, and the modifications to all the member files in the open project.
Adding Files to Project
To add a new file to the project, open the Project file and click File New, and the program will ask you whether you want to add the new file to the project.
To add existing files to the project, open the Project file and click File Open, and the program will ask you whether you want to add the file to the project.
Save Project
Use this command to update an existing Sizer project and all its member files. If the project is untitled, Sizer will prompt you to enter a new name. Sizer also prompts you for a filename for any member files that were previously unsaved. .
Save Project As
Use the Save As command to make a copy of the current Sizer project file under a new name.
Close Project
This command allows you to close a project file and all its member files. If you have modified the project file or any of the member files since you last saved them Sizer asks you whether to save or discard your modifications.
Choose Print… to open a dialog box that enables you to set printer properties and to send the contents of the current graphic or text output window to the printer.
Sizer will print the contents of whatever window is active on the screen. Depending on the mode you are in, you will have a choice of printing various files or screen views as described below. It is advisable to use the Print Preview option if you are unsure what will be printed.
The windows for these files are accessed under the View Menu, where they are described further.
Concept Mode
This file contains the suggested sections for a given structure after Sizer has designed them.
This file contains a design check for each member of a given structure after Sizer has designed it.
This file a complete list of materials needed for the most recent design
Current Drawing
Print the Plan View or the Elevation View of the structure as they are displayed on the screen.
Beam and Column Modes
This file contains the analysis results computed by Sizer in tabular form. It shows such things as the maximum shears and bending moments.
This file contains the suggested sections for a given beam or column after Sizer has designed it.
This file contains the design results computed by Sizer for a specific section. It includes such things as the shear and bending moment resistances. You can print either the enhanced output or the ASCII text file.

Print Preview
Choose Print Preview to view text or graphics output as it will appear when it is printed.
Exit
Choose Exit to leave the Sizer application and return to Windows.
