Axial Design

For members loaded in axial compression, Sizer compares the compares the factored resistance parallel to the grain Pr' with the axial compressive load on the member P.. For members loaded in tension, it compares compares the factored tensile resistance parallel to the grain Tr with the axial tension load on the member T. If one load combination, such as a snow or live load combination, is in compression, and another combination, such as a wind combination, is in tension, the program designs for both conditions simultaneously. However, if there are two separate wind load cases providing uplift and downward loading, you must make separate runs and compare manually.
