Sizer implements section 15.4.1 for eccentric column loading combined with side loads. The side loads can be in one direction of loading only, SIzer does not support biaxial lateral loading in combination with axial loading.
Any additional bending deflection due to eccentric moments is ignored (secondary moments or P-D effect).
Biaxial Beams
The equation 15.4-1 minus the compression components with subscript c is applied to the the case of oblique beams which are loaded biaxially, along with the conditions given under "where".
Equations 15.4-2 and 15.4-4
Given our assumptions, these equations are not are not required by Sizer because the conditions are met by the main equations 15.4-1 and 15.4-3, as follows
Biaxial bending, no axial load:
These equations boil down to fb1 < fbE , a check that is already done.
Flatwise bending plus axial load:
fb1 = 0, so that this check is equivalent to the check for fc < fcE2, which is already done.
Edgewise bending plus axial load:
This this check is not required because the Commentary to these clauses and the restrictions to the fc < fcE1 and fb1 < fbE checks indicate this equation is not required for columns that are loaded only in the flatwise direction.
15.4.2-Columns with Side Brackets
WoodWorks SIZER assumes that eccentric loading only takes place at the top of the column and thus clause 15.4.2.2 is not implemented.
It is possible to add an externally applied moment to a column at the side bracket location to model this situation. Sizer treats this moment as if it were due to a side load when implementing the equations in 15.4.1.
