National Design Specification (NDS)

The interpretations of the NDS design provisions implemented by Sizer are discussed in the subtopics below. These provisions have been adopted by the most recent version of the ICC International Building Code (IBC).

Note that only those provisions that relate to the current capabilities of WoodWorks Sizer have been addressed. For example, Sizer does not have a material database for circular cross sections, or tapered or curved members, so there is no reference to NDS provisions dealing with these materials.

Sizer offers a choice of using the Allowable Stress Design (ASD) or Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD), both of which are specified in the NDS.
