NDS 15.2 and 15.3 - Spaced and Built-up Columns

NDS 15.2 - Spaced Columns

The program does not allow for spaced columns.

NDS 15.3- Built-up Columns

Sizer allows for built-up columns using nailed (15.3.3) or bolted (15.3.4), using sawn lumber and LVL built-up materials databases. It does not currently include MSR or MEL built-up materials, but it is possible to make a customised database for built-up MSR or MEL materials using database editor.

Sizer implements 15.3.2 for built-up columns. Sizer calculates CP using slenderness ratios calculated for the b-face and d-face, and uses the minimum of the two. For the d face, Sizer uses the maximum CP of those calculated with the full depth d multiplied by the Kf factor, and from a single ply without the Kf factor.
