NDS 2.3 - General Adjustment Factors

2.3.2-Load Duration Factor

Sizer applies a load duration factor according to the factors for each load type input in Load View. The default values for these factors come from the Table 2.3.2 - Frequently used Load Combination Factors. You can can over-ride these in order to implement other factors on the duration curve given in Appendix B.

Sizer implements NDS 2.3.2.2, which applies the factor for the shortest duration load on all loads in a load combination.

2.3.3-Temperature

Sizer applies a temperature factor to the design values listed in Table 2.3.3, using the temperature range input in Beam and Column Modes. Concept mode assumes temperature less than 100F.

2.3.4-Fire Retardant Treatment

Both Beam and Column modes include an input field that permits a fire retardant factor you can specify.. All allowable stresses are multiplied by this value. Do not use fire retardant treated wood when impact loading is present.

Concept mode does not allow for fire retardant treatment.
